With half of all Brits confessing that money worries are their most pressing concern, a tightened belt is set to become this summer's must-have fashion accessory.
According to investment giant Prudential, 52% of people admit that their financial situation is their biggest worry - and with the credit crunch biting and house prices falling, it should come as little surprise.
More than a third of UK adults expect to have less spare cash over the next six months, according to another survey from Alliance & Leicester, with eight in ten blaming this on the increasing cost of food, consumer goods, household bills and fuel prices.
